Chapter 13

April 23rd, 2010

Thursdays Off

I left Sunday's 20th Open House 2hrs early, and went to The Cabin, to heal my Scitaca Nerve back pain and foot water blisters. NEVER have I had all three at one time, and over both Saturday & Sunday, it was most painful and daunting.

I spent Sunday afternoon & "recuperating" at The Cabin, mostly from Saturday. Saturday/Sunday and by Monday morning, the blisters were mostly gone from all 10 toes. I'd planned to stop at the Vets and pick-up Jenny, but limping as bad as I was, it was out of the question. Another week of room-and-board; oh well. I'll pick her up next time I'm here.

I had my Remy 11-87 Semi-Auto AutoLoader 12ga, and of course, my Kimber 1911 "Eclipse Target II" .45cal ACP along, with plenty of ammo, but the day was uneventful. I made dinner, poured some 50-yr old Brandy, lit a Cuban (don't ask) stogie, and flopped into my overstuffed, comfy leather chair in front of the roaring hearth. Temps were dropping into the mid-30s, and I needed to add a soft wool blanket to the mix on my King Sized bed. My cellphone was quiet; I was thankful, as compared to the hecticness of Saturday & Sunday's Open House phone calls. I rarely give out my personal numbers; the Garden Center Complex two numbers route all calls onto an answering machine, for me to pick-off and return on the same or next business day.

I secured The Cabin, shaved, showered, took my meds, crawled into bed and slept until 5:30am, to be into work by 7am. Since I'm taking Thursdays off, I needed to get a lot of scheduling and paperwork done, before that. I had several lscp leads to feed to my new Registered Landscape Architect, Rich, to add to his already 27 appointments over the next 4-5 weeks. I slept like a "baby/ log" (whatever that means) and was up before dawn, to get into work. I called the Vet and let him know that I'd be picking-up Jenny on my next visit, and would settle his bill. He was most appreciative. I'd already sent him a virtual check for $500 to help defray some expenses. I was anxious to get his bill paid, and to get her back into my life, one more.
